Teacher - Omaha (Part time Days, 30 hours, Mon-Fri)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Under broad direction from the Therapeutic Educational Coordinator, provides group and individual academic instruction for individuals with neurological injuries/illnesses.
• Plans and execute age appropriate social and educational activities, ensuring a safe, positive environment which promotes peer interaction
• Compile, analyze and record patient information to manage academic education of patients while they are at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital.
• Provide the Therapeutic Educational Coordinator with information necessary to report accountability of services.
• Plan, direct and implement academic education and rehabilitative programs.
• Participate in planning and implementation of rehabilitative programs.
• Participate in team and/or school meetings as recommended to enhance planning for return to academic setting
• Provide individual and group academic instruction on various subjects.
• Educate patient and family on compensatory strategies to facilitate improved learning.
• Plan and facilitate group activities to promote appropriate social skills, peer interaction, and group behavior.
• Communicate key information to the family and to other staff involved in the patientâ??s care to ensure reinforcement and continuity of care.
• Transport patients to and from the nursing unit or therapies via wheelchair.
• Assist patients with transfers as needed and within scope of training.
  
  QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum bachelorâ??s degree in education.
• Completion of class work and/or experience in special education preferred.
• Minimum 3 years teaching experience preferred.
• Experience working with people who have acquired neurological injuries preferred.
• CPR for Health Care Provider/CPR for Professional Rescuer required at time of hire or within 30 days from date of hire.
• Current driverâ??s license and good driving record required. Must submit a copy of current driverâ??s license abstract reflecting a good driving record.
