Responsible for providing orientation, training, and support services to staff systemwide. This pivotal role is responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving crisis prevention and safety training programs across the organization. Leveraging adult learning principles and expertise in crisis intervention techniques, this specialist conducts needs assessments, develops training materials, and delivers effective training sessions to staff systemwide. They collaborate with stakeholders to identify development strategies, contribute to organizational efforts through committee participation, and maintain professional competence through ongoing education and adherence to regulatory requirements. With strong communication skills and a focus on organizational effectiveness, this role plays a crucial part in ensuring a safe and supportive environment for staff and patients alike.

Required Qualifications: Safety Training Specialist

* Bachelor's degree in health care, social sciences, education or law enforcement OR equivalent combination of education/experience combined (one year of education equals one year of experience) required.

* Minimum of three years applicable training experience with safety, crisis prevention or other intervention techniques, preferably familiarity with zero-harm healthcare and de-escalation interventions required.

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for effectively training and coaching staff in de-escalation techniques required.

* Organizational skills to manage training schedules, materials, and documentation effectively required.

* Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders required.

Preferred Qualifications: Safety Training Specialist

* Experience in designing and delivering training programs, preferably in a healthcare or law enforcement setting, would be valuable preferred.

* Experience with tracking and reporting within a learning management system preferred.

* Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards related to crisis prevention and patient safety, such as OSHA regulations and Joint Commission requirements preferred.

* Additional certifications or training in related areas, such as first aid, CPR, mental health first aid, or trauma-informed care, may be beneficial preferred.

* Experience working in a healthcare or mental health setting, particularly with populations prone to crisis situations, can provide valuable insights and skills for this role preferred.
